Poke (pronounced pokay) is a bowl of chopped raw tuna, octopus, and perhaps other fish mixed (or artfully arranged) with such vegetables as avocado, jalapeno peppers, cucumbers, or tomatoes. Possible dressings are sriracha, teriyaki, and Japanese ponzu. Originally an Hawaiian dish, poke gained great popularity in the mainland during the first decades of the 21st century, and it now is available in just about any place that makes sushi.
