Ice Cream Soda

The fundamental ice cream soda is a tall glass holding ice cream, flavored syrup, and effervescent soda. When the soda is flavored, it is known as a float. Specific variations include a black cow and a brown cow made with root beer or Coke, a Boston cooler made with ginger ale (preferably Vernor’s ginger ale from Detroit), a purple cow made with grape soda, a Prosecco float that includes sorbet rather than ice cream, and a Guinness Stout float.
