Hamburger Steak

At its least, a hamburger steak is an extra-large, bunless hamburger – round or oval – that’s served on a plate with potato and vegetable, maybe smothered with gravy, sauteed onions and/or mushrooms. Marcus Hamburgers in Detroit takes it to another level by patting coarse-ground beef into long tube (not a circle or oval), and putting a couple of such tubes between pieces of Texas toast, then smothering the package with gravy.
