The after-dinner drink known as a grasshopper, which is vivid green thanks to the inclusion of crème de menthe, is said to have been invented at New Orleans’ Tujague’s over 100 years ago. Original recipes always include cream, and in fact some modern after dinner drinks actually are made not with cream, but melted ice cream.
