Fruit Salad

Fruit salad can be perfunctory fruit cocktail out of a can or a magnificent arrangement of fresh fruit. It’s usually a side dish, but can be the main event at breakfast. Mexican restaurants in Tucson have their own version of fruit salad, known as pico de gallo: a blast of salt, chili powder and lime juice all sprinkled on top of a pastel bouquet of watermelon, coconut, pineapple, mango, and jicama.
