The term dinner platter is similar to the South’s meat-and-3, which is more about lunch. On a dinner platter, which has no regional limitations, you can expect a main course (meat, fowl, fish), at least two side dishes, one of which likely will be potatoes, and such appropriate condiments as gravy or cranberry sauce and a small biscuit or muffin.
