Country Captain

A fairly rare dish found in only a few Lowcountry restaurants, country captain is a stew of chicken with raisins and slivered almonds, seasoned with curry powder, served on a bed of rice. Historians believe it likely came from India to the seaport of Savannah, a speculation supported by the fact that in the 19th century, Britons used the term country to refer to anything of Indian origin.
