Calamari

Calamari means squid in Italian, and a few decades ago, it was almost exclusively Italian restaurants that served it. But the tender, crisp-fried, mildly nautical rings, served with marinara sauce or cocktail sauce for dipping, have become a favorite appetizer in all kinds of restaurants, seafood restaurants especially, as well as one of the nation’s favorite bar foods.
