Cake Donut

Unlike a yeast donut, which is featherweight and sugar-glazed, a cake donut is dense …like cake. That is because its dough is leavened with baking powder. It emerges from the fry kettle with a slightly crisp, tan skin and may be eaten plain or frosted or rolled in cinnamon sugar. The stalwart, creamy insides of a good cake donut make it ideal for dunking.
