Affogato

Affogato is an Italian-restaurant dessert in which hot espresso is poured over vanilla ice cream or gelato. The temperature contrast causes the two ingredients to swirl together, creating something like a sweet coffee drink, but spoonable. Sambuca, Amaretto, or Grand Marnier are optional additions. By the way, affogato means drowned.
