Sundae School - Dennisport, MA

Although there are now three locations on the Cape, 2008 marks the 30th anniversary of the Dennisport store. Step up to the marble soda fountain counter to order a frappe, ice cream soda, or sundae served in an old-fashioned glass dish. The ambience inside the historic barn serves to enhance the ice cream experience, from the antique signs on the walls to the pennants (of colleges attended by current and former scoopers) carpeting the rafters. Although the ice cream is made daily in small batches, this luckily does not translate into a lack of flavor choices. Both ice cream purists and mix-in junkies will each be pleased by the quality of the flavors as well as the presence of candies, nuts, or fruits in every spoonful.

Overall Experiencerating
Bass River Mud Ice Cream - This mud pie-type flavor has certainly been done before, but few versions can rival the success achieved at Sundae School. The combination of a solid coffee flavor and abundant mix-ins made for a perfect pick. rating
Pirate Pandemonium Ice Cream - A flavor sensation! The peanut butter ice cream would have been a solid stand-alone, but the crunch and salt of the pretzels truly enhanced the scoop. rating
Vanilla Ice Cream - Fantastic flavor and incredibly smooth texture. rating
Hot Fudge Sauce - Incredibly thick and cleaved like butter. rating
