66 Diner - Albuquerque, NM

The 66 Diner is a good place to taste food unique to New Mexico. First and foremost is the green chile cheeseburger, in which chopped-up spicy green chilies supplement the usual package of meat and melted cheese. You can also have enchiladas made with chile, and good ol’ green chile stew, served with wheat tortillas on the side.

The Teeny Weeny Sundae is the perfect $.99 dessert when you've already indulged in some of the famous 66 Diner meals.

One little condiment cup holds a pool of thick fudge sauce, topped with a small (1/4 cup?) scoop of ice cream, then finished with whipped cream, peanuts, a drizzle of fudge, and a cherry.

Chilies are fundamental to New Mexican food, even at the 66 Diner, which is more hash house than native-foods restaurant.
