I have had the distinct pleasure of eating at Hot Doug's and would do so again in a heartbeat. The encased meats are so far above average it is hard to imagine. While my wife and I had to stand in line for an hour and fifteen minutes just to order, the wait was definitely worth it.

I had the duck sausage with foie gras and a smoked sausage with kraut. Kathy had an elk sausage with artisan cheese cubes on top. We also enjoyed the fries cooked in duck fat. The flavors meld in such a way that it completely elevates the "hot dog experience." These are definitely NOT your standard supermarket dogs.

Waiting in line is an experience by itself. The people are all, by and large, in a good mood and accept the wait as a part of the ritual. The one thing I would warn against is taking a taxi to Hot Doug's. We stayed on the "Mag Mile" and the cost of a taxi is $20 one-way. I would happily go again but I would drive next time.
