Café des Amis

140 East Bridge St., Breaux Bridge, LA - (337) 332-5273

We went to Café des Amis for the zydeco breakfast and had a very good time. We got there early and were seated at a small table near the back and ordered beignets and coffee to kill some time. We ordered breakfast just before the band started playing and enjoyed a great meal while listening to the music and watching the locals dance. When we left the place was packed and the line was out the door.

Thick with corn, crawfish and shrimp, this creamy soup could be a meal in itself.

Eggs Begnaud: a grilled biscuit topped with crawfish etouffee and/or crawfish au gratin and two eggs (with cheese grits on the side). In this case, Jane asked for her eggs cooked hard. They are covering a mountain of wonderful crawfish.
