Bob Sykes Bar-B-Q

1724 9th Ave N, Bessemer, AL - (180) 044-SYKES
Cooked over slow-smoldering hickory wood, the pork is finely chopped and succulent; ribs are hefty; chopped beef is particularly flavorful. Pies are excellent, sold by the slice, whole pie, or mini-pie. You can get chocolate, pecan, and coconut, but the one that must be sampled is the meringue-topped lemon pie: sweet, creamy, and Southern to its soul.

Another side we thoroughly enjoyed were the baked beans, which taste like they have a good dose of Bob Sykes BBQ sauce.

This delicious pecan pie is not overly sweet; the crust is buttery and flaky and it's topped with perfectly toasted pecans.

Light and smooth with a strong lemony flavor, this pie is the perfect finish for a great BBQ meal.

If you walk in the side door, you are greeted by the appetite-inducing vision of the BBQ pit, pitmaster and his handiwork.

With food this good, it is hard not to make a perfect hog of yourself at Bob Sykes Bar-B-Q.
