Sears Fine Foods

439 Powell, San Francisco, CA - (415) 986-0700
There are more inventive and more trendy restaurants in the Bay Area, but you will not find a breakfast anywhere in town more satisfying than a plate of Sears' Swedish pancakes. You get eighteen ethereal, golden griddle cakes with plenty of whipped butter and warm maple syrup and (optional) lingonberries

Sears sourdough French toast is gentle-textured and gentle-flavored. It comes sprinkled with powdered sugar and is accompanied by a pitcher of syrup.

Sears french toast starts with good, flavorful bread. It is soaked in eggs long enough to become breakfast food on a whole 'nother plane of being. (Marc Bruno photo)

Sears bacon is thick and crisp and plenty salty – a good companion for just about any breakfast.

Sears was long known for the pink Cadillac in its dining room. It is in fact a classic California counter-and-table coffee shop. (Marc Bruno photo)

Sears' décor is vintage Americana, and the place is nearly always crowded at breakfast time, sometimes so much so that you will have to wait in line. We arrived about seven and were seated right away.
