The restaurants along Lake Pepin, a particularly wide section of the upper Mississippi River between Wisconsin and Minnesota, begin to rise from their winterlong slumber this weekend. Both the Harbor View Cafe in Pepin, WI (see the Roadfood.com review and the photo of a meatball dinner above) and the Bogus Creek Cafe of Stockholm, WI  (see the Roadfood.com review) begin a Friday through Sunday schedule tomorrow.

Cousin Johnny and I had a fantastic lunch at Harbor View Cafe a few years back. Any visit to the area must include the wonderful Stockholm Pie Company, which is open year round.
