Crown Candy Kitchen of St. Louis was founded in 1913 by the Karandzieff family (see the Roadfood.com review). The neighborhood, and business, has had its ups and downs over the intervening years but, lately, both are looking up. The family is celebrating their century in business all year (they don't actually know the exact date they originally opened), with some sort of special event planned for the spring or summer. In the meantime, we think a splendid way to commemorate the anniversary is with a chocolate banana malt and one of their famous BLTs.

Love Crown Candy Kitchen! In just the ten years or so since I have been going, the improvement in the neighborhood is astonishing.

I agree. It's a wonderful, timeless place; reminds me of the soda shop in The Music Man. And they have delicious black walnut ice cream, a real treat.
