Hostess has gone out of business, and with the resultant (we're pretty confident) temporary demise of the Twinkie, we thought it would be appropriate to dig into the publishing archives to excavate this bit of Twinkiana by Jane and Michael Stern from a 1989 issue of the long-defunct Spy magazine. Entitled Twinkie, Twinkie Little Suet-Filled Sponge-Cake Crisco Log, Now I Know Just What You Are, the piece not only regales us with all sorts of Twinkie ephemera, such as the story of the man who lived on Twinkies and Cutty Sark for seven years, but teaches us how to make our own Stinkies (a contraction of Stern Twinkies).
