Vying for top honors in the chip-chopped skillet breakfast category -- especially in the autumn -- is root vegetable hash, as made in beautiful Roxbury, Connecticut, at Mamie's. (Roadfood.com review) The only problem with ordering Mamie's root vegetable hash is that it is hearty fare, leaving precious little appetite for the restaurant's extraordinary creme brulee French toast, blueberry pancakes, hot beignets, coconut layer cake, and peanut butter cream pie.
