Wholey SandwichWholey of Pittsburgh is celebrating their 100th anniversary this weekend. The mayor yesterday dedicated 17th Street in the Strip District as Wholey Way. The dedication was preceded by a parade on Penn Avenue. All weekend there will be free samples, contests, prizes, and entertainment. Michael Stern, in the Roadfood.com review of Wholey, said "the meal most people come to eat is a fish sandwich, made of cod sizzled in the bubbling fry kettles towards the front. It is common to see grocery-browsers munching a sandwich on the stroll as they peruse this truly amazing market." Stop in Sunday as they begin their second century in business.
