Coconut CakeIn our opinion, there's just not enough coconut cake in this world. We enjoyed this towering homemade slice at Bowman's Tavern after traipsing around nearby Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve. We were going to skip dessert when we spied a piece heading to another table. After confirming it was made in-house, we requested one slice and four forks, which was brought to us by the man who baked it that morning. Nothing high-falutin' about this sweet and coconutty wedge of old-fashioned satisfaction.

Pork Wings
They've been around for years now, but we finally had our first taste of the trendy bar food known as pork wings. These are actually sections of pork shank that are cut away and pre-cooked and processed by the pork producer. The restaurant then adds the finishing touches such as, here at Bowman's Tavern, a soy-ginger-lime-sesame glaze. Pretty good for bar grub. And, when in doubt, there's always the safety of a cheeseburger.
