Sally Pie
Sally's Apizza on Wooster Street in New Haven, CT is listed on this site and has been a recommendation of the Sterns for ages but, for some reason, it doesn't get nearly the attention that Pepe's, down the street, does, at least around here at Roadfood.com (see the Roadfood.com review of Pepe's). We're not sure why that is. Speaking for ourselves, since Pepe's is one of our favorite restaurants on earth, and as we only get up to the area about once a year, we've never been to Sally's.

The white clam pie is Pepe's claim to fame and, while Sally's does serve a clam pie, word is that it's decidedly inferior to the Pepe model. But there are many who swear that Sally's other pies have Pepe's beat. Alex Sferrazza, writing for the UConn student paper, is apparently one of those Sally's loyalists. Freshmen, take note!
