Are you worried about not eating enough garlic? Worry be gone when you order a slice of garlic pizza from BonaVenia Pizza King, a truck that parks along the northbound side of Route 22 in Pawling, New York. Chef/owner Anthony Bonavenia, Jr., offers slices and whole pies cooked on premises in a wood-fired oven. All slices start plain (at $2.50), and for 50 cents extra you can add your choice of sausage, pepperoni, etc., and fresh garlic (minced only when the slice is ordered).

Hot sausage, pictured above, is not as killer-assertive as garlic, but the stars of this show are the crust -- crisp, chewy, elegant -- and Mr. Bonavenia's zesty sauce.

Here is the truck to look for. If you are wondering if it will be parked alongside Route 22 on any particular day, call 914-403-5429.

Man, you've really gotta LOOOOVE garlic to order that slice. Lomabardi's on Spring St. in NYC offers a whole pie like that. I ordered it one time, thinking that they would sprinkle the garlic on right BEFORE sliding it into the oven. Nope! A blanket of raw, chopped garlic covered that pie and burned my throat going down!

Greg, I need one of your uber-spreadsheets to plan the Connecticut Roadfood trip. Way too many delectables for only one weekend. Way too many wonderful pizzas...

Michael, were you on your way to/from Big W? Would make a top-notch doubleheader.

Bingo! I was on my way to an early lunch at Big W, forgetting that they don't open until noon. I was on a schedule, so the pizza truck was perfect backup.

Michael, not sure if you ever get up to the West Taghkanic Diner in Ancram, NY but there is a great place called Green Acres Farm and bakery about 4 miles away and they make some of the best apple, pecan and (especially) peach pies I have ever eaten. I've never been there but my friends have a summer home a couple of miles away and always have 3-4 pies and hand of which I have been the lucky recipient on numerous occasions!

Cheers!
