Jims Steaks
For the second time in less than a year, the art deco-styled cheesesteak shop Jim's on South Street (see the Roadfood.com review) was raided by Philadelphia cops. An emloyee was arrested and marijuana and pills were confiscated. Last August, a raid nabbed a Jim's manager along with marijuana, coke, and pills. Owners of Jim's have been giving the Sergeant Schultz response.

Don't hear Schultzie being referenced enough these days! I think if order yours with "extra special cheese" they'll give you the hook-up!

Considering the poor quality of the cheesesteak after my last visit to this tourist trap, I guess they have to supplement the meal with artificial enhancers.

The herb is all-natural - nothing artificial there! BTW, Jim's is no tourist trap.

Well, I guess the all-natural stuff provides "artificial sensory enhancers"

We can agree to disagree

BTW- neither is Durgin Park or the Buckhorn Exchange.

I agree about Durgin-Park and Buckhorn. Both good, both worthwhile (and, incidentally, both receive a far higher percentage of tourists than does Jim's - well, that's hard to say for sure, but it appears that way to me).

Jim's was one of my faves in a recent cheesesteak tour! Don't be difficult, Dale.

Bruce, I'm right, you're wrong- I just like to get your goat(or "steak" in this case) Chris, at least I think that's you- I just didn't care for Jim,or Pats...

Seems like offering weed is a good way to keep perpetual business, if you ask me.

Prefer mine sliced rather than chopped

This had nothing to do with Jim's other than the Cops decided to make an arrest in such a high profile venue, they could have easily apprehended this guy at his residence. In fact the article does not mention that drugs were even being sold out of Jim's.
Look at the Headline and realize Jim's was not raided rather Law Enforcement apprehended a wanted perp where he worked.

As for Jim's South Street being a Tourist Trap it absolutely is... I have made a seperate review for the Original Jim's 62 & Noble St in West Philadelphia.
This is Philadelphia Finest Steak since 1939. South Street Jim's and Jim's West Philly are like night and day though they are of the same ownership.
