Michael SternWe sure wish we could have attended the symposium recently put together by the Greater Midwest Foodways Alliance. Entitled Road Food: Exploring the Midwest One Bite at a Time, the three-day event, which took place in Chicago at the end of April, featured Michael Stern as the keynote speaker. You can now listen to Michael's talk online, as he addresses the question we often dwell upon here at Will Success Spoil Regional Food? It's a fascinating 40 minutes, well worth your time if you have an interest in regional American food. While you are at the WBEZ page, you'll also find 17 other recorded talks from the symposium, on subjects that range from Mobile Food in 19th-Century Chicago to Pies on the Road.

Just listened and it was very interesting. There are quite a few stories in there I hadn't heard before.
